Sony ULT TOWER just got three new members. Sony has expanded its ULT POWER SOUND range with the ULT TOWER MAX, ULT TOWER 7 and ULT TOWER 5, three party speakers positioned under the tagline “Massive Bass. Ultimate Vibe.” The new Sony ULT TOWER lineup was tuned with input from hip-hop producers and pairs Sony’s biggest woofers yet with DJ inputs, karaoke support and synchronised party lighting.
The Sony ULT TOWER range was refined through co-creation with acclaimed hip-hop sound creators, including Grammy-nominated producer Dot Da Genius, drummer and producer Daru Jones, DJ and producer Dready, and audio engineer Dennis “ROC.am” Jones. Their feedback pushed Sony toward deeper low frequencies, greater impact and clearer vocals across all three models, so the speakers reproduce music the way these creators intended listeners to feel it, not just hear it.
At the centre of the range is a newly developed circular woofer design, paired with larger cabinet volumes and Sony’s ULT DUCT porting to push deeper low-frequency output than previous ULT models. The ULT TOWER MAX tops the range with three woofers — two front-facing and one rear-facing — driven by an amplifier rated up to 2,150 watts, plus four tweeters and mid-range drivers for Sony’s 360° Party Sound, which is designed to deliver even bass and vocal clarity from any position around the speaker. ULT TOWER 7 carries the same 360° Party Sound feature with up to 420 watts of output, while the compact ULT TOWER 5 is rated up to 300 watts.
Every model keeps Sony’s signature ULT sound button, now expanded to four presets: ULT1 for enhanced deep bass, ULT2 for heavier, body-shaking low end, FLAT for a true-to-source listening mode, and a new LIVE mode that recreates the spread of a live performance while keeping vocals clear. Further tuning is available through Custom EQ in the Sony | Sound Connect app, and an Enhanced Sound Field Optimization feature reads both speaker placement and ambient noise to rebalance the full frequency range automatically.
The new range is built for DJs and karaoke hosts as much as casual listeners: connectivity spans XLR, RCA and USB-C inputs, compatible speakers can be paired in stereo, and Sony’s optional ULTMIC1 adds vocal-optimised karaoke input. A new Party Chain feature uses Auracast broadcast to link multiple compatible Sony speakers so that music and lighting stay in sync across a room, with three lighting modes — BEAT, WAVE and MELLOW — to match the mood. ULT TOWER MAX and ULT TOWER 7 gain upgraded wheels and carry handles for easier transport, and both the ULT TOWER 7 and ULT TOWER 5 carry an IPX4 rating when used vertically, with battery life rated up to 30 hours and 20 hours respectively.
Sony also notes a sustainability angle for the range: roughly 35% of the plastic used in the ULT TOWER MAX, and around 20% of the plastic in each of the ULT TOWER 7 and ULT TOWER 5, is recycled material. Separately, Sony has signed on as official wireless speaker partner for Red Bull Dance Your Style 2026, supporting the National Final in the US and the World Final in Switzerland this autumn — the latest sign that Sony is positioning ULT TOWER as a serious contender in the crowded party speaker category.
Sony ULT TOWER: Pricing and Availability
All three models are available from September 2026. The ULT TOWER MAX is priced at £1,299, the ULT TOWER 7 at £499, and the ULT TOWER 5 at £349. Full details are available via Sony’s UK press centre.
For anyone comparing party speakers this season, the Sony ULT TOWER range stands out for pairing genuinely big amplifier numbers with practical touches — wheels, carry handles, an IPX4 rating on two of the three models — that matter once a speaker actually has to leave the living room. Combined with DJ-friendly XLR/RCA inputs and karaoke support out of the box, the new Sony ULT TOWER lineup reads less like a Bluetooth speaker refresh and more like Sony chasing the portable PA market directly.
