Silent Angel has introduced the Silent Angel N8S, the evolved successor to its globally best-selling N8 HiFi network switch, alongside the new F1S linear power supply designed as its companion. The Silent Angel N8S keeps the robust, hardcore performance that made the original N8 a favourite among streaming-focused audiophiles while reworking its industrial design and adding a composite SFP-plus-RJ45 interface for wider compatibility with fibre-based HiFi setups.
A HiFi-Grade Network Switch Built Around a Dedicated Clock
At the heart of the Silent Angel N8S is a main-controller clock fed by a dedicated TCXO clock board: a built-in 0.1ppm oscillator powered through optimised trace lengths and linear LDO regulators to improve current-noise performance. Power delivery uses genuine ADI LT3042 front-stage regulation combined with PNP devices for high-current, low-ripple output, backed by three-channel SGM2208 devices on the rear stage for further low-noise power delivery — the same layered approach to power-supply purification that runs through Silent Angel’s product line. Long-life, high-temperature Japanese electrolytic capacitors, WIMA MKP film capacitors and X7R-grade or better MLCCs are used throughout the signal path, and the two SFP ports support up to 10 Gbps fibre-optic connections with compatible GBIC modules — well beyond the Gigabit ceiling of the three copper RJ45 ports.

Paired With the F1S for Dual Power-and-Signal Purification
Silent Angel positions the new F1S linear power supply as the natural partner for the N8S, aiming to purify both the power delivered to the switch and the signal that passes through it. The F1S follows on from the existing Forester F1, which Silent Angel already offers as a dedicated linear supply for the N8 network switch and other streaming components, and the brand frames the N8S/F1S combination as a way to push path-wide noise down further and restore a cleaner, deeper black background to digital playback.
Full specifications for the F1S have since been published. It’s built around GaN power technology and delivers ultra-low-noise, multi-rail DC power through three independent outputs, each with its own status LED so a fault or operating condition on any single rail is visible at a glance. One 12V/1A output is specifically dedicated to the Silent Angel N8S, letting the two products work as a matched pair, while the remaining 12V/2A and 5V rails can power other compatible Prestige Series components — replacing several wall adapters with a single, purpose-built linear supply. Built-in over-current protection guards connected equipment against abnormal current draw.

The Silent Angel N8S carries three 10/100/1000 Mbps auto-adaptive Ethernet ports alongside two SFP ports, a Realtek RTL8367 switch chip, and network-transformer isolation rated above 40dB at 30MHz and above 30dB at 100MHz. Silent Angel says the combination of switch architecture and clock design is intended to deliver clean, stable network signals so that connected streamers, NAS units and DACs can recover more of a recording’s original texture.

Two Use Cases, One Chassis
Silent Angel positions the N8S for two scenarios: as a HiFi-streaming network switch aimed at a cleaner signal and a deeper black background between notes, and as a general higher-speed, more stable switch for everyday PC networking. The chassis itself is a cage-aluminium-alloy structure, finished in gunmetal grey. The F1S shares the same design language and footprint as the N8S, so the pair can sit stacked or side by side in a rack or on a shelf without looking mismatched.

The N8S joins a broader Silent Angel streaming ecosystem that already includes the Munich MU network streamer — read our earlier coverage of the Silent Angel Munich MU V2 for more on how the brand approaches its network-streaming line-up.
