MSB Technology has announced its latest breakthrough in audio engineering: Bit Diffusion Technology (BDT). Developed by Chief Circuit Designer Dustin Symanski, this innovation promises to redefine digital-to-analog conversion, delivering unprecedented musicality and natural sound. Initially conceived during the development of the upcoming Sentinel DAC, Symanski successfully adapted BDT to the existing Cascade DAC with a minor hardware update, yielding remarkable performance gains.
Atom and electron
Inspired by the quantum relationship between an atom and an electron’s probability density function, Bit Diffusion Technology mimics natural phenomena to enhance audio playback. Applied to the Cascade DAC’s unique 16-channel architecture, BDT diffuses low-level ambient noise and digital artifacts, resulting in an analog-like sound that’s both relaxed and fatigue-free. Listeners can expect a holographic soundstage with improved dynamics, separation, and a wealth of newfound nuances in familiar recordings. “It’s shocking to hear so many new details and beautiful moments wash over you,” Symanski noted, hinting at the even greater potential of the Sentinel DAC’s 64-channel design.
Cascade DAC
Effective immediately, all new Cascade DACs will ship with Bit Diffusion Technology at no additional cost. In a generous move, MSB is also offering the upgrade free of charge to existing Cascade DAC owners, requiring only the return of the Cascade Analog Converter unit to the factory for a swift update (shipping and handling fees apply). However, the technology is exclusive to the Cascade and Sentinel models, as earlier MSB DACs lack the necessary hardware to support it.
