The Meze Audio Ultra Cable is the Romanian brand’s flagship aftermarket cable, a hand-braided, pure-silver upgrade path for owners of its top-tier headphones. Compatible with the Empyrean, Empyrean II, Elite and Arta, the Meze Audio Ultra Cable is built to order and priced at $999, with a wait of three to four weeks per unit.
Pure Silver Conductors, Braided Without Solder
At the core of the Meze Audio Ultra Cable are conductors machined from 7N high-purity silver, rated at 99.99999 percent purity. Silver’s higher electrical conductivity compared to copper is meant to reduce signal degradation and preserve micro-detail, and Meze builds the cable from 40 individual conductors of 0.08mm diameter, arranged in a continuous sixteen-wire to eight-wire braid with no soldering required anywhere along its length. The braid pattern is also functional: twisting the wires cancels out much of the electromagnetic interference that a straight run of parallel conductors would pick up, cutting both incoming and outgoing noise.

Streamline Moderne Hardware
Meze extended the same attention to the cable’s hardware. The connector shells and Y-splitter are cast in zinc alloy with a PVD coating, styled after Streamline Moderne, the aerodynamic strand of Art Deco design from the 1930s. Product designer Szabolcs Ferenczi describes the look as “an ode to a bygone era, frozen in time” — sleek, curved forms that echo the unimpeded signal path the silver conductors are meant to deliver. The Meze Audio Ultra Cable ships in a hard case with an Alcantara cloth insert that doubles as a cleaning cloth for the metal hardware.

Four Termination Options, One Cable
On the source end, the Meze Audio Ultra Cable is available with a 3.5mm, 4.4mm or 6.3mm plug, or a 4-pin XLR for balanced desktop amplifiers, so it can move between a portable player and a full-size headphone amp. The headphone end always terminates in dual 4-pin mini XLR connectors, matching Meze’s own connector standard across the Empyrean, Empyrean II, Elite and Arta. Standard length is 1.2 meters, though Meze will build custom lengths up to 10 meters, and buyers can request a different termination or length after ordering, before the cable goes into production. Each cable is completed individually by hand, with Meze limiting output to one finished Ultra Cable per day to maintain its quality control process.

The Ultra Cable sits at the top of Meze’s cable range as the dedicated upgrade path for owners of its reference headphones, following the same premium-materials approach the brand applies to models like the Meze Audio POET. Full specifications and ordering are available on Meze Audio’s own product page.
