Grado Labs has expanded its Signature Line with the Grado Signature S150, a pair of open-back wired headphones that brings the brand’s latest driver technology down to its most accessible price point yet. Priced at $295, the Grado Signature S150 becomes the entry point into a range that otherwise runs well past $2,000, and it ships with a newly developed 44mm S driver built around the same paper-composite diaphragm technology found in Grado’s flagship HP100 SE and S950 models.
A new driver built for a smaller format
At the core of the Grado Signature S150 is an entirely new 44mm S driver, developed specifically for this smaller housing rather than simply scaled down from the brand’s larger 52mm units. Grado says the result delivers a level of clarity and detail that challenges expectations for a headphone in its class, while preserving the natural body and musical character the brand is known for. Clean, articulate bass and a balanced presentation across the frequency range are meant to let subtle musical details emerge without sacrificing fullness.

A contemporary take on the classic Grado look
The Grado Signature S150 introduces an entirely new single-piece acoustic chamber housing, molded from engineered ABS polymer for a refined, understated matte-black finish while keeping the recognizable silhouette of a Grado headphone. Redesigned matte-black polymer gimbals, stainless-steel height rods and reinforced junction blocks add stability and durability, and at just 220 grams the headphones pair that construction with Grado’s updated Signature headband assembly for long listening sessions. The padded leather headband distributes weight evenly, while an internal flexible steel band lets listeners fine-tune the fit.

Detachable cables and a personalized fit
Grado equips the Signature S150 with its detachable cable system as standard, fitted here with the Signature Bronze cable for a lighter, softer and more flexible feel than earlier Grado cables. The included 6-foot cable terminates in a 3.5mm plug with a bundled 6.3mm adapter, and buyers can instead order 4.4mm balanced or 4-pin balanced XLR terminations, or a 12-foot cable, at checkout. The headphones come fitted with Grado’s F cushions, chosen for their acoustic tuning, but are compatible with the brand’s full cushion range so listeners can adjust both comfort and sound signature to taste.

Hand-assembled in Brooklyn
Grado Labs has designed and built its headphones in Brooklyn since 1953, and the Signature S150 continues that tradition, combining decades of headphone-building experience with new materials and the latest generation of Grado driver technology. For a brand whose Signature Line has climbed toward the $3,000 mark with models like the HP100 SE, the Grado Signature S550 and the S750, the S150 is a deliberate move in the other direction: putting that same engineering lineage within reach of listeners stepping up from Grado’s entry-level Prestige range for the first time.
