Harmonia Distribution has brought the Fyne Audio Cubitt 5 to North America, giving the Scottish loudspeaker maker its first fully active, self-powered system for the US and Canadian market. Priced at $899, the Fyne Audio Cubitt 5 pairs a 5-inch IsoFlare point-source driver with 240 watts of DSP-controlled amplification, aiming to bring genuine hi-fi sound to televisions, turntables, desktops and everyday listening without a separate amplifier.
A point-source driver built for small rooms
At the core of the Fyne Audio Cubitt 5 is the company’s IsoFlare driver, which places the tweeter at the acoustic center of the bass/midrange cone so sound radiates from a single point rather than two separate drivers. Fyne Audio’s FyneFlute surround is designed to absorb unwanted resonance at the edge of the cone, while an active crossover and dedicated class-D amplification let the electronics and drivers work as one tuned system instead of being matched after the fact. Inside, a high-density, internally braced cabinet and a front-firing bass port are meant to extract more low end than the compact enclosure would suggest.
One box instead of a rack of them
Connectivity is where the Fyne Audio Cubitt 5 tries to replace an entire system rather than sit inside one. Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD and AAC covers wireless streaming, HDMI ARC/eARC lets the speakers stand in for a soundbar on TV duty, and optical digital plus analog RCA inputs cover additional sources. A built-in phonostage supports moving-magnet and high-output moving-coil cartridges, so a turntable can connect directly, and a subwoofer output is included for listeners who want more low-frequency extension than a 5-inch driver can deliver alone. Playback tops out at 24-bit/96kHz over the digital inputs.

Fyne Audio Cubitt 5: five finishes and a Raleigh debut
The Fyne Audio Cubitt 5 is available in five finishes — Midnight Black, Pearl Titanium, Olive Green, Pebble Grey and Arctic White — a range wide enough to suit a desktop, a bookshelf or a living room console. Harmonia is giving the speaker its North American public debut at Audio Advice Live in Raleigh, North Carolina, running August 7 through 9, alongside the rest of the distributor’s roster, which includes PrimaLuna, Harbeth, Ø Audio, Musical Fidelity, Pathos Acoustics, Bassocontinuo and Sbooster. Fyne Audio’s earlier F500S Series loudspeakers already showed the brand’s point-source approach translating into smaller passive cabinets; the Cubitt 5 pushes that idea further by folding the amplification, DSP and connectivity into the speakers themselves.
