Fosi Audio has launched the MD3 MagDAC, a compact portable DAC and headphone amplifier aimed at listeners embracing the growing wired audio trend. The device will go on sale from May 25 across major platforms and was officially introduced at CanJam Singapore 2026.

As interest in high-quality wired audio continues to rise alongside vinyl, CDs, and dedicated hi-fi setups, the MD3 targets modern users who want better sound from their smartphones and portable devices without sacrificing mobility. The unit is designed for commuters, travelers, and daily listeners seeking an accessible step up from standard wireless audio.
Premium Audio Architecture in a Tiny Package
At the heart of the MD3 sits a flagship ESS ES9039Q2M DAC chipset paired with four ESS ES9603 headphone amplifier chips in a true balanced circuit. This combination is tuned for strong musicality, low distortion, and excellent detail retrieval while maintaining an ultra-compact form factor.
The MD3 offers both 3.5 mm single-ended and 4.4 mm balanced outputs, delivering up to 180 mW of power via the balanced connection. An aluminum shielding plate between the magnetic system and circuitry helps minimize interference and preserve signal purity.
Smart Features for On-the-Go Use
Fosi equipped the MD3 with dual USB-C ports that support simultaneous playback and charging, ensuring uninterrupted listening throughout the day. A standout feature is the MagSafe-style magnetic back plate with strong N52 magnets, allowing secure attachment to compatible phones or cases for seamless portable use.
User interaction is enhanced by a 1.28-inch LCD display with rotatable orientation, physical buttons including a dedicated “Ease Button,” and support for uploading custom images. The device also includes a 100-step digital volume control with memory function.
Premium Build and Design
The MD3 is precision CNC-machined from 6063 aluminum alloy, weighs just 20 grams, and features a sandblasted anodized finish with CNC-textured surfaces and engraved branding. Despite its pocket-sized dimensions, it maintains a durable, premium feel.
Showcased with IM4 IEMs at CanJam
Fosi Audio is demonstrating the MD3 at Booth E7 during CanJam Singapore 2026 (May 16–17 at Pan Pacific Singapore), pairing it with the company’s IM4 in-ear monitors. Together, the duo forms a complete compact wired solution emphasizing detailed, immersive sound for users moving beyond typical wireless options.

The renewed popularity of wired listening extends beyond traditional audiophiles to younger users discovering hi-fi streaming, physical media, and intentional listening habits. Portable DACs like the MD3 address demands for better sound quality, reliability, and lower latency in everyday scenarios.
