Cayin has introduced the ID6, an all-in-one desktop system that brings music streaming, high-resolution playback, DAC functionality, headphone amplification, and preamplifier outputs together in a single chassis. The Cayin ID6 is built around three selectable timbres, letting listeners switch between tube and solid-state character without changing hardware.
The Cayin ID6’s Three Selectable Timbres
At the heart of the Cayin ID6 are three selectable timbres: Classic Tube, Modern Tube, and Solid-State. Classic Tube offers a warm, smooth presentation, while Modern Tube brings greater openness and definition; Solid-State provides a precise, detailed alternative for critical listening. The two tube timbres draw on a pair of 12AU7 dual-triode tubes, reflecting Cayin’s long experience with vacuum-tube audio, and a dedicated tube viewing window puts the glowing filaments on display. The timbre options apply across the headphone outputs, RCA and XLR line outputs, and preamplifier outputs.

Dual-DAC Architecture and a Four-Channel Headphone Stage
The Cayin ID6 pairs a customized Android 14 platform with dual ESS ES9082Q DACs, one dedicated to each channel in fully independent mono mode, which Cayin says improves channel separation, signal-to-noise ratio, and overall clarity. Its four-channel, fully discrete balanced headphone amplifier offers selectable Class A and Class AB operation and delivers up to 4.0W plus 4.0W into 16 ohms through the balanced output. A 6-inch FHD+ touchscreen provides direct control on the unit, with the Cayin Control App offering additional playback and device settings.

Streaming, Storage, and System Connectivity
Listeners can access music through streaming apps, wired Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB storage, or an optional M.2 NVMe SSD, with system-wide bit-perfect playback supported through third-party apps. The Cayin ID6 also fits into a larger hi-fi system, providing balanced XLR and RCA line and preamplifier outputs alongside USB DAC input, HDMI ARC, I²S output, and coaxial and optical digital connections.

Pricing and Availability
The Cayin ID6 is scheduled for launch in September 2026, with a suggested retail price of USD 1,899; availability and local pricing may vary by market. Full details are listed on Cayin’s official newsroom.
