Deezer is introducing the Deezer AI Music Toggle, a new on/off switch that will let listeners fully exclude AI-generated tracks, albums and related artists from search results. The feature, announced on 13 October 2026, is due to roll out globally before the end of the year and marks the French streaming platform’s next step after becoming the first service to detect, tag and exclude AI-generated content from recommendations in 2025.

What the Deezer AI Music Toggle does
Once activated, the Deezer AI Music Toggle removes fully AI-generated tracks, albums and the artists behind them from a user’s search results entirely. Users who want access to that content again simply switch the toggle back off. Deezer says the feature responds directly to user demand: a Deezer/Ipsos survey from November 2025 found that 45 percent of music streaming users want the option to filter out 100 percent AI-generated music altogether.
“We’ve seen a clear user demand for the ability to filter out AI-generated music, and we are now giving everyone the option to remove this content completely from their streaming experience on Deezer, and focus only on human creators and creations, if they wish,” says Alexis Lanternier, CEO of Deezer.
Built on two years of AI detection
The toggle builds on Deezer’s proprietary, patent-pending AI detection tool, which has been running since the start of 2025. The platform has detected and excluded more than 42 million AI-generated tracks from algorithmic and editorial recommendations between January 2025 and August 2026, and has tagged over 14 million albums since becoming the first streaming service to explicitly label AI-generated music in June 2025. Deezer is now also licensing its detection technology to the wider music industry.

According to Deezer, the platform receives nearly 90,000 fully AI-generated tracks every day, accounting for more than half of total daily uploads on peak days, even though fully AI-generated music still makes up only 1 to 3 percent of actual streams. The company has found that up to 85 percent of streams generated by those tracks were fraudulent in 2025, and excludes manipulated streams from royalty payments when detected.
What listeners told Deezer
The Deezer AI Music Toggle follows a wider Deezer/Ipsos study of 9,000 people across eight countries on attitudes toward AI-generated music. In that survey, 97 percent of respondents could not reliably tell AI-generated music apart from human-made music in a blind test, 80 percent agreed that fully AI-generated music should be clearly labelled, 73 percent wanted to know when a streaming service recommends it, and 52 percent felt AI-generated songs should not appear in main charts alongside human-made ones.
Availability
The toggle has no separate subscription requirement and will be introduced globally across the Deezer platform before the end of 2026, following the same rollout pattern as Deezer’s existing AI detection and labelling tools. No exact regional launch schedule has been published alongside the announcement.
