Gold Note DS-5.2 Roon Ready certification is now official. The Italian brand’s compact network streamer, DAC and line preamplifier has completed Roon’s certification process, giving owners instant, bit-perfect integration with the music platform alongside its existing TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect and AirPlay 2 support.
A Compact Hub Built Around the 5.2 Series
At just 20cm wide (80x200x260mm, roughly 4kg), the DS-5.2 packs a network streamer, a fully balanced DAC built around a single AKM AK4493 converter, and a line-level preamplifier into one chassis. It supports PCM up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD256, and rounds out its connectivity with HDMI eARC for TV sound, Bluetooth 5.2 aptX HD input and output, balanced XLR outputs and a dedicated headphone output.
A colour touchscreen shows album art, and the unit can be controlled through the GN Control app or a physical remote. Like the rest of the Gold Note 5.2 Series, the DS-5.2 is designed, assembled and tested in Italy, housed in a black anodised aluminium chassis, and expandable later with the optional PSX-5.2 external power supply.

What Roon Ready Actually Changes
Gold Note frames the Gold Note DS-5.2 Roon Ready certification around four practical gains. Roon now discovers the DS-5.2 automatically on the home network, so it can be enabled as an audio zone within moments, with no manual configuration. Streaming is bit-perfect, meaning the digital signal reaches the DAC exactly as sent, without alteration. Local files, TIDAL and Qobuz sit together in one interactive library enriched with biographies, lyrics, credits and reviews. And because Roon is inherently multi-room, the DS-5.2 can be grouped with other Roon-certified devices around the house, with music following from room to room.
Two Months of Roon, On the House
To mark the certification, Gold Note is including a 60-day Roon trial with every new DS-5.2 sold. A flyer in the box carries a QR code and promotional code; buyers simply scan it, or enter the code manually at roon.link/redeem, to activate the trial and start exploring their library through Roon’s interface at no extra cost before deciding whether to subscribe.
The DS-5.2 is not Gold Note’s first Roon Ready product, but its certification extends that support down into the brand’s more accessible, desktop-friendly tier, following the same network architecture already proven in the larger DS-10 EVO. For readers comparing streaming transports in this bracket, our review of the Eversolo T10 Reference Streaming Transport covers a similarly compact rival with a different feature balance.

Pricing and availability
The Gold Note DS-5.2 Roon Ready DAC is available now through Gold Note‘s dealer network at a recommended retail price of €1,290 / $1,290 / £1,290. The Roon Ready update and the accompanying 60-day Roon trial apply to new units purchased from today; Gold Note has not announced a retroactive firmware path for existing DS-5.2 owners at the time of writing.
For anyone already invested in a Roon-based system, the Gold Note DS-5.2 Roon Ready certification makes the DAC a natural fit as a secondary zone or a desktop endpoint, without sacrificing the bit-perfect streaming Roon users expect from a certified device.
