In a move that reinforces its reputation for future-proofing ultra-high-end home theater systems, Steinway Lyngdorf has released a significant free software update for its entire lineup of Lyngdorf Audio and Steinway & Sons multichannel processors. The update introduces native Qobuz Connect support and makes these flagship processors the first in the world to fully integrate Pure Audio Streaming – the groundbreaking lossless, uncompressed multichannel immersive audio platform – via direct AC Connect control.
This release marks the culmination of announcements made earlier in 2025 at High End Munich, where Steinway Lyngdorf first revealed its pioneering partnership with Pure Audio Streaming. Owners of existing systems can now experience true studio-master multichannel streaming without compromise, alongside an expanded ecosystem of high-resolution services.
Qobuz Connect: A Natural Fit for Discerning Listeners
Steinway Lyngdorf processors were already among the most advanced streaming-enabled AV components on the market, offering Tidal Connect (with full Dolby Atmos Music support), Spotify Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, and Roon Ready certification. The addition of Qobuz Connect further elevates their appeal, particularly for enthusiasts of classical, jazz, and acoustic genres.
Qobuz’s catalogue is renowned for its extensive selection of hi-res titles – up to 24-bit/192 kHz – available both for streaming and download. With direct Connect integration, users simply select their Lyngdorf or Steinway & Sons processor from within the Qobuz app and enjoy bit-perfect playback across the full multichannel speaker layout. No intermediaries, no downsampling, no loss of fidelity.
Pure Audio Streaming: The New Benchmark in Immersive High-Resolution Music
The headline feature, however, is the seamless integration of Pure Audio Streaming, delivered through its AC Connect protocol. Launched in mid-2025, Pure Audio has quickly established itself as the purist’s alternative to mainstream services by offering the world’s first fully lossless, uncompressed multichannel immersive audio streaming.
Unlike Dolby Atmos Music or Sony 360 Reality Audio, which rely on lossy or object-based compression, Pure Audio delivers native high-resolution PCM (up to 7.1.4 channels at 96 kHz/24-bit) or Auro-3D encodings direct from the studio masters. The result is an unprecedented level of transparency, dynamics, and spatial realism that rivals physical Blu-ray Audio discs – but with the instant convenience of app-based browsing and playback.
Steinway Lyngdorf is the first (and currently only) high-end AV brand to embed this capability natively. Users open the Pure Audio app, select a track, album, or playlist, choose their processor as the playback device, and the immersive mix streams directly over the network to the multichannel system. Early catalogue highlights include Grammy-winning recordings from labels such as 2L, LUX, and msm-studios – many of which were previously unavailable in true lossless multichannel form outside of disc.
Additional Refinements Round Out the Update
The firmware also brings practical enhancements:
- Automatic Lip-Sync now extended to the Lyngdorf MP-40 2.1 and Steinway & Sons P100 2.1 processors (previously exclusive to the flagship MP-60 2.1 and P300 2.1). This feature uses HDMI eARC feedback to dynamically correct audio-video timing mismatches.
- Improved trigger functionality, Roon integration, and Tidal feature stability.
The update is available immediately and free of charge via the processor’s web interface or the My Lyngdorf/My Steinway app.
Compatible models include:
Lyngdorf Audio
- MP-40, MP-40 2.1
- MP-50
- MP-60, MP-60 2.1
Steinway & Sons
- P100, P100 2.1
- P200
- P300, P300 2.1

For owners of these reference-class systems – many of which retail well into six figures when fully configured with matching amplifiers and loudspeakers – this update represents extraordinary added value. Steinway Lyngdorf continues its longstanding philosophy: invest once in hardware that improves over time through software, never compromising on the pursuit of perfect sound.
