Canadian audio specialist Kanto Audio has taken a major step forward in its bookshelf speaker range with the launch of the all-new Tuk Grand flagship and complete redesigns of its popular Yu and Tuk series. The new models, which blend meaningful acoustic upgrades with a sharper, more modern industrial design, made their public debut at AXPONA 2026 in Chicago.
The announcement marks an evolution for two of Kanto’s longest-running and most successful lines. The Yu series, first introduced in 2014, established the brand’s reputation for delivering high-quality, accessible sound in compact, stylish packages. The original Tuk, launched in 2019, pushed performance deeper into true hi-fi territory. Now, both families receive thoughtful updates that align form and function more closely than ever before.
Tuk Grand: Kanto’s Most Ambitious Speaker Yet
At the top of the new lineup sits the Tuk Grand, described by Kanto as its most ambitious loudspeaker to date. It builds on the strengths of the original Tuk with a significantly larger cabinet and increased internal volume, delivering greater scale, deeper low-frequency extension, and a more expansive soundstage.
Key refinements include enhanced driver integration and an upgraded AMT tweeter (shared across the new Tuk models), which retains impressive detail retrieval while achieving a more balanced and natural overall presentation. The result is a speaker that offers enhanced immersion without sacrificing the musicality that has long defined the Tuk range.
Visually, the Tuk Grand adopts a bolder architectural aesthetic. Sharper geometry and a more substantial presence make it a confident design statement in contemporary living spaces, while the updated cabinet contributes to reduced diffraction and cleaner acoustics.
A Sharper, More Refined Tuk
The standard Tuk also receives a comprehensive overhaul. Moving away from the softly rounded edges of its predecessor, the new model features a defined square-corner cabinet profile. This change not only modernizes the look but also improves acoustic performance by minimizing edge diffraction for a more focused and precise soundstage.
Increased cabinet volume provides a more stable foundation for the drivers, while a revised tweeter design and refined waveguide geometry deliver smoother high-frequency response, greater detail, and more consistent off-axis performance. Connectivity has been brought up to date with Bluetooth 5.4 (including aptX HD), USB-C, dual RCA line inputs, and TOSLINK optical.
Next-Generation Yu4 and Yu6
Kanto’s accessible Yu4 and Yu6 models have been refreshed with a complete redesign of the cabinet and front baffle. New integrated drivers produce a noticeably wider soundstage, while updated DSP tuning and electronics deliver a clear step up in overall refinement and performance.
Powered versions retain their convenient all-in-one design, complete with integrated amplification and a versatile connectivity suite: Bluetooth 5.3, phono input, USB-C, RCA, and subwoofer output. These features make the new Yu speakers ideal for modern desktop setups, creative workspaces, and living-room systems alike.
Passive versions of both models share the same acoustic and design improvements, offering greater flexibility for users who prefer external amplification.
Design and Acoustics in Harmony
Across the entire updated lineup, Kanto’s design and engineering teams have worked to ensure that industrial design directly supports acoustic goals. Subtle shaping of the front baffle and tweeter waveguide improves high-frequency dispersion, resulting in a wider, more even listening window and stable stereo imaging—even when listening off-axis. The speakers are engineered to sound natural and room-filling while looking at home in modern interiors.
For audiophiles and design-conscious listeners seeking elevated performance without abandoning style or simplicity, Kanto’s 2026 speaker lineup represents one of the most compelling updates in the compact powered-speaker category in recent years.
