The iconic Danish loudspeaker brand Jamo, founded in 1968, is staging a significant comeback. After a period of transition, Jamo is returning to the global high-end audio scene with renewed energy, a clear focus on Scandinavian design heritage, and a commitment to both craftsmanship and modern performance.
Now under the ownership of Cinemaster and Rayleigh Lab, the brand is entering its next chapter with leadership that deeply respects its storied past while embracing innovation for today’s listeners. Development is once again rooted in Denmark, with production handled in both Denmark and China to balance quality, heritage, and scalability.
Cinemaster, the largest audio distribution company in China, is led by CEO Xiaodong Yang, who previously worked closely with Jamo and brings intimate knowledge of the brand’s history, values, and design philosophy. Rayleigh Lab, an innovative audio R&D and manufacturing leader based in Shenzhen, is headed by its founder and CEO, Thomas Li.
In a statement, Xiaodong Yang said:
“Jamo is a legendary brand for good reason — great sound and clever design never get old. We have set up development to create speakers which meet all needs of the modern listener, from entry-level models to high-end systems. Production will be handled in both Denmark and China, and we can’t wait to show you more very soon.”
A Return to Nordic Roots
Jamo was originally established in Denmark with a clear vision: combining exceptional acoustic performance with distinctive Scandinavian aesthetics that feel at home in modern living spaces. Over the decades, the brand earned a strong reputation across Europe for its elegant, innovative loudspeakers that balanced simplicity, style, and sonic quality.
The new ownership is placing this heritage front and center. The revived Jamo team is drawing inspiration from Nordic landscapes, natural materials, and cultural traditions, while incorporating contemporary technologies and responsible material choices. The result is a design philosophy that honors the brand’s past without being bound by it — creating speakers that feel authentic, refined, and relevant for 2026 and beyond.
International Design Talent Drives the Revival
Creative direction for the relaunch is guided by an experienced international team:
- Kim Michel, founder of KimMichel Design, with extensive experience in industrial design and Scandinavian product development.
- Simon Matthews and Jamie Cobb from UK design consultancy Studio ISO, whose portfolios include work with high-end audio leaders such as Focal, Bowers & Wilkins, and Naim Audio.
- Award-winning Danish agency HarritSorensen, founded by Thomas Harrit and Nicolai Sørensen in 1991, which has contributed new designs that keep authentic Danish design DNA at the core.
This collaborative effort has focused on reinterpreting Jamo’s signature design language through fresh concepts, materials, and acoustic approaches. The team emphasizes a seamless balance between legacy and innovation, ensuring the new products deliver immersive, emotionally engaging sound while maintaining the clean, elegant style for which Jamo is known.
Sound for Modern Living
Jamo’s relaunch embraces the evolving ways people listen today. The upcoming range will span a broad spectrum — from traditional high-fidelity systems to connected and lifestyle-oriented solutions designed to integrate naturally into contemporary homes.
Across all categories, the guiding principles remain consistent: balanced, immersive sound that connects emotionally with the listener, paired with the simplicity and sophistication of Scandinavian design.
The first public reveal of the new Jamo creations will take place at the HIGH END Vienna 2026 show (June 4–7 at the Austria Center Vienna), marking the brand’s official return to the international audio community.
For longtime Jamo enthusiasts and a new generation discovering the brand, this revival promises to deliver the clever design and engaging performance that made Jamo legendary — updated for the demands and aesthetics of modern living.
