Estelon, the Estonian high-end loudspeaker manufacturer celebrated for its blend of acoustic precision, innovative engineering, and artistic design, has donated its latest AURA floorstanding loudspeakers to the Arvo Pärt Centre in Laulasmaa, Estonia. The installation enhances the Centre’s main exhibition space, bringing the permanent exhibition “When you seek from almost nothing” to vivid auditory life and allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the pure, introspective world of composer Arvo Pärt’s music.
The AURA speakers replace the Estelon YB models that Estelon originally provided in 2018, coinciding with the Centre’s opening in its striking modern building designed by Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos. Over the intervening years, those YB speakers have faithfully reproduced Pärt’s compositions for nearly 180,000 visitors, delivering uncompromising clarity and emotional depth without coloration or compromise. Michael Pärt, Chairman of the Board of the Arvo Pärt Centre and son of the composer, expressed his satisfaction with the upgrade: “I am very pleased about this and hope that the new loudspeakers will bring joy to just as many music lovers.”
Longstanding partnership
The donation underscores a longstanding partnership between Estelon and the Arvo Pärt Centre, now spanning over seven years. The collaboration extends beyond mere audio reproduction: Estelon’s speakers play an integral role in the Centre’s educational programs, enabling students of all ages to explore and understand Pärt’s distinctive tintinnabuli style—a compositional approach rooted in simplicity, bells-like resonances, and profound spiritual introspection. Michael Pärt highlighted the shared values driving this alliance: “I am very grateful that the Centre has partners like Estelon, with whom we share a similar sensibility and set of values. We have been walking this shared path for over seven years, and the cooperation has been mutually enriching.”
Estelon’s Founder and Chief Designer, Alfred Vassilkov, reflected on the deeper significance of the installation: The Arvo Pärt Centre is a place where silence and sound carry profound meaning. It is precisely in such an environment that Estelon feels the true purpose of its work is fulfilled, allowing music to sound as it was intended.
Accessible entry
The Estelon AURA represents the brand’s more accessible yet uncompromising entry into its lineup of premium floorstanders. Engineered for real-world listening environments, the AURA features a sealed-box cabinet crafted from thermoformed mineral-filled composite, which minimizes resonances and enables flexible placement. Its three-way design incorporates a down-firing 10-inch (250mm) Faital woofer for articulate, extended bass; dual 5-inch SB Acoustics Satori mid-woofers with neodymium motors for exceptional transient response and low distortion; and a Scan-Speak tweeter housed in a complex elliptical waveguide for wide, even dispersion. The crossover employs second-order slopes (around 75 Hz and 2.3 kHz), ensuring seamless driver integration and natural timbre reproduction—qualities ideally suited to conveying the subtle nuances, silences, and harmonic purity central to Pärt’s works.
Delicate reproduction of Pärts music
In the serene, contemplative setting of the Arvo Pärt Centre’s exhibition, the AURA loudspeakers faithfully reveal every delicate layer of Pärt’s music: the spacious silences that precede a single note, the bell-like resonances of tintinnabuli, and the emotional weight carried in minimalist gestures. By presenting these elements with unadorned accuracy and immersive realism, the installation elevates the visitor experience, transforming passive observation into profound personal engagement.
Through this generous contribution, Estelon reaffirms its commitment to supporting cultural institutions that preserve and share extraordinary musical legacies. The partnership not only honors one of Estonia’s most globally revered composers but also demonstrates how high-fidelity audio can serve as a bridge between artistic creation and appreciative audiences, ensuring that Pärt’s timeless reflections on silence, word, and sound continue to resonate for generations to come.
