Steinway Lyngdorf has announced the updated Model C. It’s a direct descendant of the iconic Model D, the first and original Steinway & Sons loudspeaker. The new Model C is smaller and features a lighter design. This downsizing was achieved by separating the woofers from the main speaker and utilizing the company’s boundary woofer technology.
Key or C features
This updated version features a more elegant and lighter design with extended black strings on the backside, replacing the former amplifier and crossover box. The crossover and sound alignment between all drive-units are now completely lossless and in the digital domain. The Model C features an open baffle dipole design. By eliminating air compression and sound coloration from a common speaker enclosure, this loudspeaker delivers pure, transparent, high-resolution sound. Each Model C loudspeaker is meticulously assembled and finished by hand in Skive, Denmark, and the same quality standards as a Steinway & Sons piano are applied to the black lacquered and gold-plated parts.
Market intro
The highly anticipated Model C is set to hit the market in the second quarter of 2024. System prices will vary depending on the choice of stereo or surround processor and boundary woofer model.
