Main columns and subwoofers
Comprising a sophisticated four-column system, the Suprema features two main columns and two subwoofers, all connected by an external electronic crossover. The innovative design, crafted by Sonus faber’s engineering team, aims to elevate acoustic performance to unprecedented levels of excellence. The main columns adopt the signature lute shape, blending seamlessly into the background and enhancing the virtual soundstage. In contrast, the subwoofers take on Stradivari’s elliptical shape, ideal for low-frequency reproduction.
The Suprema’s main columns are a 4.5 ways system, featuring back-firing and front-firing speakers that include dual drive woofers, mid-woofers, a Camelia midrange, mid-tweeters, and super tweeters. The meticulous combination of these elements ensures unparalleled audio reproduction across the frequency spectrum.
Careful attention has been given to maintaining Sonus faber’s signature Natural Sound while evolving the configuration of tweeters and midranges. The Suprema introduces new elements, including a midrange with a cellulose pulp diaphragm, a mid-tweeter with a treated silk dome, and a super tweeter with a treated silk dome. These materials, combined with carbon fiber, wood, and solid aluminum CNC, contribute to the speaker’s exceptional sonic qualities.
A standout feature of the Suprema is the use of recycled cork to create the unique chamber dedicated to the internal volume of tweeters and midrange. This sustainable material plays a crucial role in enhancing the resolution and natural quality of the midrange performance. The separate subwoofer system utilizes cutting-edge technology, with two powerful 38cm transducers ensuring undistorted pressures up to 16Hz.
To achieve tonal perfection, Sonus faber meticulously crafted the Suprema through simulations, tests, and listening sessions. The integration with subwoofers is managed by a dual mono, fully balanced electronic crossover, while ground coupling control in collaboration with IsoAcoustics enhances dynamics and power while preventing unwanted vibrations.
