You might think they are all the same, because they all have a microphone and they measure the room. But there’s a big difference with RoomPerfect. Most AVR calibration systems were routed in the 90’s, where you would have these large front speakers, medium sized center speaker and smaller surrounds. One is 3 meters away, one 2 meters and another 1 meter. So you have to align them all in volume level, frequency response and the distance. That’s speaker calibration.
Our background is room acoustics. Lyngdorf Audio started with digital amplifiers and room acoustics. Company engineers know about what happens with sound in a room. How does sound bounce back from the wall, ceiling and floor. How do we as humans perceive sound. All these things, that’s not speaker calibration, but understanding room acoustics. What RoomPerfect is doing with a microphone and DSP is really capture the sound energy in the room and improve that. It’s not only killing some problems, but really addressing the room acoustical problems, leading to a better sound performance.
