Pro-Ject Audio Systems, the Austrian specialist renowned for its high-value turntables and analogue components, has announced the latest addition to its Artist Collection: the Scorpions Special Edition Turntable. This limited-edition model pays homage to the legendary German hard rock band Scorpions, drawing inspiration from their iconic 1982 album Blackout, and blends striking visual design with serious vinyl playback performance.
The Scorpions Turntable is built on Pro-Ject’s established T2 platform, a belt-drive design celebrated for its mechanical precision, low-resonance construction, and excellent value in the audiophile world. The special edition elevates the standard T2 with exclusive thematic styling, featuring artwork from the Blackout album prominently displayed beneath the platter. The heavy 10mm glass platter—1.7 kg in weight—offers a clear view of the artwork when in use (with the felt mat removed for display), while maintaining zero-resonance characteristics that outperform plastic or lightweight metal alternatives.
Stable, resonance-controlled foundation
At the heart of the design is an enlarged CNC-machined plinth, crafted without any plastic components and engineered to eliminate hollow spaces that could harbor unwanted vibrations. This approach ensures a stable, resonance-controlled foundation for accurate sound reproduction. The turntable supports electronic speed switching for 33 and 45 RPM, making it straightforward to play both LPs and singles.
Pro-Ject equips the Scorpions edition with its Pick it 25A moving magnet (MM) cartridge, featuring pure silver coil windings for enhanced detail and clarity. An adjustable spring-based anti-skating mechanism further refines tracking performance, helping to deliver the dynamic, powerful sound that Scorpions fans expect from classics like “Rock You Like a Hurricane” or “No One Like You.”
Handmade in Europe at Pro-Ject’s experienced facility, the turntable reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainability, longevity, and analogue purity.
Heinz Lichtenegger, CEO of Pro-Ject Audio Systems, emphasized the dual appeal: The Scorpions are one of the most influential rock bands of all time. This special edition turntable is designed for audiophiles, collectors, and dedicated fans alike, balancing visual impact with serious analogue performance.
Pricing and availability
Priced at £629 (approximately €649, with other regions to be confirmed), the Scorpions Turntable is available now by special order through authorized Pro-Ject dealers. As part of the Artist Collection, which has featured themed editions in recent years, this release marks Pro-Ject’s first such collaboration of 2026 and stands out for its bold fusion of rock heritage and high-end vinyl engineering.
For vinyl enthusiasts who want to spin their Scorpions records on hardware that visually echoes the band’s legacy, the Scorpions Special Edition offers a compelling package—one that’s as much a statement piece as it is a high-performing turntable.
