Today, Sony proudly announced the launch of the new ECM-778 shotgun microphone. This flagship model is designed for professional content productions where audio quality is of paramount importance, such as in films, dramas, and documentaries. In addition to delivering immersive, high-quality sound, this microphone offers versatile mounting options, suitable for use on boompoles and directly on compatible cameras.
New CFexpress Type A Cards
Simultaneously, Sony introduces CFexpress Type A cards: the CEA-G1920T (1920 GB) and CEA-G960T (960 GB), along with the MRW-G3 CFexpress Type A card reader. These products utilize the latest technology, achieving read speeds of over 1800 MB/s more than twice as fast as previous models. They meet the VPG (Video Performance Guarantee) 400 standard, ensuring stable video recording at speeds of 400 MB/sec. Their rapid data transfer and high storage capacity make them ideal for demanding professional workflows.
Advanced Technology for Superior Sound Quality
The ECM-778 microphone stands out thanks to its advanced technical design. A newly developed microphone capsule, a brass acoustic tube, and a specially designed electronic circuit board work together to deliver clear, spatial high frequencies, as well as stable mid and low frequencies. These innovations enable high-resolution recordings that capture frequencies above 20 kHz, resulting in natural and detailed audio recordings of voices, environmental sounds, nature noises, and musical instruments.
Compact and Lightweight Design for Maximum Flexibility
Measuring only 176 mm in length and weighing just 102 grams, the ECM-778 offers excellent mobility without compromising sound quality. Its compact housing, made from machined aluminum, makes it an ideal choice for recording in tight spaces and outdoor environments. The microphone can be easily mounted on boompoles or directly on cameras with XLR connections, making it suitable for a wide range of video productions and audio recording scenarios.
Reliability and Versatility in Various Environments
Equipped with a low-cut switch that reduces wind noise and vibrations, the ECM-778 is especially useful for outdoor recordings. It comes with two types of windshields: a lightweight foam windscreen for indoor use and a fur windscreen for outdoor wind protection. Its rugged machined aluminum housing ensures durability and reliability, even under demanding conditions.
Professional Collaboration and User Experience
In developing this microphone, Sony worked closely with sound engineers from the film industry. Their expertise and feedback resulted in a product that meets the highest standards of sound quality and ease of use. The CFexpress cards and the MRW-G3 card reader are designed with professional workflows in mind, offering high speeds, large storage capacities, and robust specifications for intensive use.
