The UK based brand is revamping its iconic 1978 speaker. Designed by a Peter Comeau lead team this revamp heralds the return of UK-based manufacturing for Mission. Comeau also called designing this updated version “a labour of love”. Let’s take a look if they have managed to make it sound as iconic as it looks!
Dynamic Design
The emphasis for the design of the new 770 is on a combination of polypropylene cone and resonance controlled cabinet. Accordingly, Mission has developed a new polypropylene driver. Furthermore the 8-inch drivers are kept from the original design. Larger rear windows are implimented to reduce early reflections. This all should guarantee an open, detailed preformance.
Capable Cabinet
All this tech is housed in a real-wood veneered cabinet with a white laminated front baffle, echoing the style that made the Mission 770 a stand-out. The new 770 features a twin-wall sandwich of high-density MDF and particle board bonded by a layer of an all-new treble unit. Ensuring a smooth and extended high-frequency performance.
