Chinese electronics manufacturer Hisense has unveiled two giant TVs, a 116-inch TriChroma LED TV (116UX) and the company’s first consumer-ready Micro LED display, the 136MX with a 136-inch screen. The 136MX Micro LED TV promises up to 10,000-nits of peak brightness, about five times the brightness of any OLED TV and Hisense claims the 116UX is the only consumer model to use RGB Local Dimming Technology. All of Hisense’s new TVs will feature its Hi-View AI Engine X processor to optimize picture, sound, and energy consumption.
Hisense calls its RGB Local Dimming Technology a “transformative innovation” because unlike traditional systems that rely on white or blue backlights filtered through a quantum dot filter to create color, RGB Local Dimming Technology introduces independent red, green, and blue LEDs that generate pure colors directly at the source. It claims this approach achieves richer reds, deeper greens, and more vibrant blues, delivering an industry-leading 97% of the BT.2020 color space — “the widest colour gamut ever achieved in a MiniLED display.”
The impressive colour gamut is made possible by tens of thousands of RGB Local Dimming optical lenses, each containing individual red, blue and green LEDs. These lenses operate as independently controlled clusters, allowing for multi-level dimming at both the RGB chip level and the cluster level. Hisense says this structure ensures accuracy in brightness and color reproduction, eliminating the inefficiencies of traditional color filtering. The result is picture quality that sets a new standard for “lifelike visuals, with breathtaking gradients, vibrant contrasts, and unparalleled realism in every scene.”
It add that the benefits of RGB Local Dimming Display Technology go beyond merely improved colour reproduction. By generating colours directly at the light source, the set avoids the brightness loss of typical systems for better brightness claims Hisense. Additionally, color dimming technology adjusts brightness and color independently, virtually eliminating blooming while maintaining precise control over every pixel.
RGB Local Dimming Display Technology also enhances energy efficiency and viewer comfort. By only illuminating the LEDs necessary for the displayed content, it reduces power consumption. Moreover, a 38% reduction in blue light emissions ensures a safer, more comfortable viewing experience for prolonged use—all without compromising on brightness or clarity.
The 116UX is powered by Hisense’s flagship Hi-View AI Engine X and enables real-time optimization of every frame, with AI-driven enhancements such as AI Peak Brightness, AI RGB Local Dimming, and AI Banding Smoother, which ensures unmatched clarity and smooth transitions says Hisense. With RGB Local Dimming Display Technology at its core, the 116-inch TriChroma LED TV achieves a remarkable peak brightness of up to 10,000 nits for more brilliant home entertainment claims Hisense. With supporting technologies like Dolby Vision, Dolby Vision IQ, and IMAX Enhanced, the new set optimizes every frame to ensure cinematic quality, making it the ultimate choice for content enthusiasts.
For audio the set features a 6.2.2 multi-channel CineStage X surround sound system integrated with Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual X technologies. AI Sound Optimization further enhances the experience by tailoring the audio to match the content, from crisp dialogue in movies to immersive soundscapes in action-packed scenes.
Designed for versatility and modern living spaces, the 116-inch TriChroma LED TV boasts an ultra-low glare panel and superior low-reflection technology, ensuring distraction-free viewing even in bright environments. Hisense promises ultra-wide viewing angles with the new set which measures less than 40mm thick. Owners will have access to 800+ free live TV channels, plus 700,000+ movies and shows available across 10,000+ apps with Google TV, while advanced connectivity options like HDMI eARC, Wi-Fi 6E, and compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit.
Hisense’s First MicroLED, the 136MX
The 136MX leverages a high-density array of over 24.88 million microscopic LEDs to achieve a “near-infinite dynamic contrast ratio, delivering deep blacks, dazzling brightness, and remarkable clarity” claims Hisense. The manufacturer also claims the 136MX image will not degrade or suffer burn-in with static content, unlike OLED TVs.
Also powered by Hisense’s Hi-View AI Engine X chipset, the 136-inch set optimizes every frame with its “AI-based algorithms, enabling precise color conversion, dynamic 3D color management, and rich display details.” Black nanocrystals further enhance performance by reducing reflectivity to ensure exceptional clarity even in well-lit spaces. With reported brightness levels reaching up to 10,000 nits and a colour gamut covering 95% of the BT.2020 color space, Hisense says the 136MX sets a “new benchmark for home entertainment displays.”
Featuring an ultra-slim form factor it features Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, and Filmmaker Mode that dynamically optimize picture quality to match both the content and environment. On the audio front, Dolby Atmos, and DTS Virtual X helps the set deliver “immersive sound quality for any type of content.”
With VIDAA OS, Hisense’s proprietary smart platform, 136MX offers seamless access to popular streaming services like Netflix, YouTube, and Disney+, along with thousands of apps. The interface, paired with voice assistant integration via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, makes navigation effortless says Hisense. Advanced connectivity options like HDMI 2.1, WiFi 6E, and eARC support ensure compatibility with the latest devices and formats. For gamers, the 136MX includes features such as 120Hz VRR, Auto Low Latency Mode, and FreeSync Premium Pro, delivering smooth, responsive gameplay.
