Danish Audiophile Loudspeaker Industries (DALI) has unveiled the Kupid, a compact, budget-friendly bookshelf speaker designed to make high-fidelity audio accessible to a new generation of music lovers. Priced at just £299 / €338 per pair (approximately $400 / AU$625), the Kupid combines DALI’s signature sound quality with a vibrant, modern design, marking a new chapter in the company’s mission to democratize hi-fi audio.
A New Entry Point to True Hi-Fi
The DALI Kupid is engineered to deliver the precision, performance, and musicality of the brand’s high-end models, such as the KORE and EPIKORE, in a smaller, more affordable package.
KUPID is about simplicity and sound, says Krestian Pedersen, DALI’s head of product management. It’s for anyone who wants a real hi-fi experience without any fuss. We’ve poured everything we know about speaker design into a form factor that’s easy to live with and easy to love.
Unlike DALI’s more complex ranges, the Kupid follows a “keep it simple” philosophy, offering a single-model lineup to eliminate confusion for first-time hi-fi buyers. This approach makes it an ideal choice for those setting up their first serious audio system or looking for a compact solution for apartments, dorms, or secondary setups like garages or vacation homes.
Bold Design Meets Versatile Placement
The Kupid stands out with its sleek, Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic and a compact footprint of just 23.7 cm (9.3 inches) in height. Available in five eye-catching finishes—Black Ash, Walnut, Caramel White, Golden Yellow, and Chilly Blue—each speaker features color-matched bass/midrange cones and textured magnetic grilles, blending seamlessly into modern or classic interiors while adding a touch of personality.
Designed for flexibility, the Kupid can be placed on shelves, furniture, or mounted on walls with included brackets, requiring just an inch of clearance from the wall. This makes it perfect for space-constrained environments without compromising sound quality. Rubber feet are also included for stable shelf placement.
Advanced Technology at an Unprecedented Price
Under its stylish exterior, the Kupid packs advanced engineering typically reserved for DALI’s premium offerings. The speaker features a proprietary 4.5-inch paper and wood fiber bass/midrange driver with a ferrite magnet system and low-loss rubber surround, delivering fast, tight bass and a dynamic midrange. A custom 26mm ultra-light soft dome tweeter ensures crystal-clear highs with smooth dispersion and minimal distortion.
The Kupid’s dual-flare bass reflex port is meticulously tuned to optimize airflow, reducing unwanted resonances and delivering deep, controlled bass for its size. A custom-designed crossover at 2,100 Hz ensures seamless integration between drivers, creating a natural and cohesive soundstage. With a consistent impedance of over 4 ohms, the Kupid is amplifier-friendly, pairing effortlessly with budget amplifiers or all-in-one streaming systems.
Despite its 63Hz low-frequency response, slightly higher than DALI’s Spektor 1, the Kupid’s overall design promises a balanced and full sound that outperforms expectations for its price class.
A Speaker for All Listeners
DALI’s Kupid is positioned as a replacement for the popular Spektor series, building on its legacy of affordable excellence while introducing bolder aesthetics and advanced technologies. Whether you’re a student, a young professional, or a seasoned audiophile looking for a cost-effective upgrade, the Kupid delivers an immersive hi-fi experience that rivals more expensive models.
The Kupid will be available starting October 1, 2025, in pairs or as individual units, allowing buyers to mix and match finishes for a personalized setup. At £299 / €338 per pair, it sets a new standard for value in the compact loudspeaker market, challenging competitors like ELAC, Q Acoustics, and Wharfedale.
A New Chapter for DALI
The Kupid reflects DALI’s commitment to making high-quality audio accessible without sacrificing the craftsmanship and innovation that have defined the brand since its founding in 1983. By focusing on sound quality, build integrity, and aesthetic appeal, DALI invites everyone to experience music as it was meant to be heard.
