Reloop, a leading innovator in DJ equipment, has launched the RP-7, the industryโs first mass-produced professional direct-drive turntable designed exclusively for 7-inch vinyl records. Priced at ยฃ499 (โฌ549/$599), this groundbreaking turntable is a tribute to the vibrant 45s culture, catering to DJs, collectors, and vinyl enthusiasts who cherish the unique charm of 7-inch singles.
A New Benchmark for 45s Culture
The Reloop RP-7 brings professional-grade performance to the compact 7-inch format, blending the technical prowess of Reloopโs acclaimed RP-7000 and RP-8000 MK2 series with features tailored specifically for 45s.
With the RP-7, we are not only celebrating the rich tradition of 45 vinyl culture but also reimagining it for the future of performance in this iconic format, said Gerald Barbyer, CEO of Reloop. This is more than just a new productโitโs a commitment to empowering DJs and music enthusiasts with tools that inspire creativity.
The RP-7 addresses a long-standing gap in the market. Until now, DJs spinning 7-inch records relied on oversized 12-inch turntables or low-quality portable players. The RP-7 offers a purpose-built solution, combining portability, precision, and durability for professional use. At 5.7 kg, itโs significantly lighter than standard decks, making it ideal for mobile DJs specializing in 45s events, from Northern Soul nights to reggae sound systems.
Cutting-Edge Features for Precision Performance
The RP-7 is powered by a newly developed brushless DC motor delivering 2.5 kg/cm of torque, ensuring rapid start-ups (under one second) and reliable cueing for advanced scratching techniques. Its quartz-controlled precision minimizes wow and flutter, providing stable pitch and timing for seamless beatmatching. The precision-machined die-cast aluminum platter, paired with an integrated switching power supply, reduces interference and vibrations, enhancing audio fidelity.
The turntable features a straight copper tonearm with internal rubber damping for exceptional tracking accuracy and minimal resonance. Borrowing from the RP-7000 and RP-8000 MK2, its height-adjustable base supports vertical tracking angle (VTA) adjustments, and the statically balanced design eliminates the need for anti-skating, simplifying setup.
DJs can choose from three speeds (33โ , 45, and 78 RPM) and adjustable pitch ranges of ยฑ8%, ยฑ16%, or ยฑ35%, with a clickless tempo fader and a pitch reset button for instant return to standard speed. The RP-7 also supports digital vinyl systems (DVS) like Phase and 7-inch control vinyl, making it versatile for both analog and digital setups.
Designed for the Modern DJ
The RP-7โs sleek, deep black metallic finish and robust chassis exude professional quality, while practical design elements enhance its functionality. A recessed connection terminal with gold-plated, switchable phono/line RCA outputs ensures seamless integration into any DJ setup, protecting sensitive ports. A detachable, rotatable aluminum LED needle light provides visibility in low-light environments, and a dedicated slot for the included 45 adapter puck simplifies use with large-center-hole records.
The turntable comes with a platter, vinyl puck, slipmat, slip sheet, LED needle light, counterweight, phono RCA cable with grounding, mains cable, and instruction manual. Note that the headshell and cartridge are sold separately, allowing DJs to customize their setup. Reloop also offers optional accessories, including a dust cover, flight case, and 7-inch record storage solution.
A Nod to Vinyl Legacy
The 7-inch single, spinning at 45 RPM, was the dominant format for music sales and radio play from the 1950s to the 1970s, shaping genres like Northern Soul, reggae, hip-hop, and punk. Today, the format enjoys a resurgence, with community-driven 45s events gaining popularity at record stores, festivals, and underground venues. The RP-7 honors this legacy, offering a tool that matches the passion of collectors and DJs who see 7-inch vinyl as more than just a mediumโitโs a cultural statement.
Availability and Pricing
The Reloop RP-7 is available now for ยฃ499 (โฌ549/$599) through authorized retailers like Sweetwater, Thomann, and Gear Club Direct. Pre-orders are being accepted, with shipping expected by early September 2025.
A Game-Changer for 45s Enthusiasts
While undeniably niche, the RP-7 is a dream come true for those immersed in 7-inch vinyl culture. Its compact design, professional features, and nod to the iconic Technics SL-700โcustom-built for Biz Markieโmake it a standout in the DJ world. Whether youโre a turntablist, a collector, or a DJ spinning 45s at specialized events, the RP-7 is poised to redefine how 7-inch records are played and performed.
