The Hifiman Shangri-La electrostatic headphones system offers Hifiman’s ultimate listening experience. Inside the headphones you’ll find nanotech drivers, less than 0,001mm thick. Result? Lightning-fast response with virtually zero distortion. For this flagship system, Hifiman came up with radical new technology: metal mesh stators working in proximity to the ultra-thin diaphragm provide superior openness and less distortion than other headphones. The frame is manufactured using a specialized metallic alloy; chosen to ensure sonic stability and to minimise distortion. The width of the grating of the mesh measures only 50um, making it so fine that sound waves lower than one 1×10^6 Hz (1 million Hertz) can pass trough without distortion. The headphones have an extended frequency response from 7Hz to 120kHz.
Custom designed amplifier
The amplifier features four custom designed and custom made 300B tubes; the warm beating heart which pumps the audio lifeblood of the Hifiman Shangri-La. The 300B tube works as the direct driving stage. There are neither capacitors nor transformers between the tubes and headphones, meaning the Hifiman Shangri-La might be the only audible system you can directly listen to the 300B’s heavenly sound. The distinct design of the Hifiman Shangri-La’s relay-based attenuator has a 24 step of volume level control and utilizes a total of 23 separate resistors. Every volume level is therefore unique and independent. Mere noise gives way to a pure heavenly reproduction of any harmony.
