An internationally acclaimed jazz artist, Barber is known for her sultry vocals, captivating piano performances, and sophisticated songwriting. She has made her mark as a significant American composer, beautifully blending elements of poetry, jazz, and art music.
Barber honed her craft in the Chicago jazz scene during the 1980s, captivating audiences at the Gold Star Sardine Bar with her performances five nights a week. Since then, she has toured the world with her band, showcasing her artistry in everything from grand concert halls to intimate clubs, all while continuing to make her home at the legendary Green Mill. Friday Night Feature: The Kyle Asche Organ Quartet
Kicking off the concert series on Friday night, April 11th, at 8:00 PM, is the Kyle Asche Organ Quartet! Jazz guitarist Kyle Asche has been a vital part of the Chicago jazz community for nearly 25 years. Since beginning his professional career in Chicago in 2001, Kyle has extensively performed both locally and internationally.
Asche has collaborated with jazz legends such as Wynton Marsalis and Jazz at Lincoln Center, Melvin Rhyne, and many more. His versatile style allows him to excel in various genres, but his passion for jazz often finds him performing alongside some of Chicago’s finest jazz vocalists and Hammond organ bands. With two music performance degrees from Northern Illinois University and Northwestern University, Asche is also a dedicated music educator, having served on the jazz guitar faculty at Loyola University Chicago since 2010.
