In a significant move to bolster its BRAVIA Professional Display line-up, Sony has announced the launch of the Remote Device Manager (RDM), a cloud-based provisioning, control, and monitoring service. This innovative service aims to streamline the installation, operation, and troubleshooting processes, delivering substantial time and cost savings for integrators and end customers alike.
Display Management with Zero-Touch Provisioning
RDM utilizes Zero-Touch Provisioning to facilitate on-site deployment, enabling users to effortlessly manage their BRAVIA displays. The service introduces a suite of new features designed to enhance control and monitoring capabilities, including:
- Remote Software Updates: Users can update the software of multiple displays from a single location, eliminating the need for manual updates on each device.
- Status Monitoring: RDM allows users to monitor the operational status of multiple displays simultaneously, ensuring they are functioning optimally.
- Abnormal State Detection: The system can identify any irregularities in display operation, allowing for proactive maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Screenshot Capture: Users can capture screenshots remotely, providing valuable visual feedback and assistance during support sessions.
Future-Proofing Display Solutions
Chris Mullins, Head of B2B BRAVIA at Sony Professional Displays and Solutions Europe, commented on the significance of RDM, stating, “To further future-proof our display solution for customers, the introduction of RDM will not only enable users to deploy and set up hundreds of screens simply and quickly but also facilitate enhanced control and troubleshooting.”
Mullins emphasized the potential of RDM to revolutionize display set-up across various environments, including retail stores, workplaces, and universities. “This solution allows you to pre-define multiple BRAVIA configuration profiles for your various display use cases, such as signage or meeting room display. Each profile can include your required CMS apps to deploy, pro-settings, and general display settings, which can then be deployed with a quick scan of the QR code onsite,” he elaborated.
Continuous Enhancements and Free Trial Offer
Sony has committed to ongoing improvements for RDM to introduce additional functionalities and benefits for users. The service will be available as a chargeable license per managed device. To encourage adoption, Sony is offering a free trial period for integrators and end customers, available until at least September 30, 2025, subject to terms and conditions.
The RDM service is compatible with all BRAVIA BZ-H, BZ-J, and BZ-L models, making it accessible to a wide range of users.
Expanding Partnerships for Enhanced Value
In conjunction with the launch of RDM, Sony is actively expanding its network of partnerships with software providers. Recently, the company welcomed 23 new members and industry leaders to its AV alliance and Technology Partner Network, including Sales TV, Grassfish, and PADS4. These collaborations aim to deliver enhanced value, compatibility, and creative freedom for users of BRAVIA Professional Displays.
As Sony continues to innovate and enhance its professional display solutions, the introduction of the Remote Device Manager marks a significant step towards more efficient and effective display management for businesses across various sectors.
